• Self‑reflection, continually examining your own assumptions, biases, and cultural lens.
• Lifelong learning, recognizing that you will never “arrive” at full knowledge of another person’s culture.
• Power awareness, noticing where power sits in relationships, systems, and interactions, and actively working to rebalance it.
• Respectful partnership, approaching others with curiosity rather than expertise, and letting them define what safety, respect, and care look like for them.
It shifts the focus from “I know about your culture” to “I am committed to learning with you, listening to you, and not assuming authority over your experience.”
